Syntropic agriculture is an agroecological approach to the design and management of productive ecosystems that draws on the principles of natural succession, vertical stratification, and the accumulation of useful energy through biomass production and the enhancement of soil fertility.

Syntropic agriculture provides a transdisciplinary framework for the design and management of agroecosystems, drawing upon principles from ethics, physics, chemistry, philosophy, mathematics, biology, ecology, sociology, technology, and related disciplines.

It seeks to produce food by emulating the organizational processes of natural ecosystems, enabling agricultural systems to develop toward increasing levels of complexity, soil fertility, resilience, and biodiversity over time.

SAMPLING DESIGN & PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT

The right data starts in the field----> with the right sampling strategy.

The process begins by defining the question the sampling campaign needs to answer:

whether estimating soil carbon stocks, characterizing soil fertility, evaluating an agricultural input, establishing a baseline, or monitoring changes over time.

From there, I design the sampling framework around the expected spatial and temporal variability of the system

HOW IT WORKS

  2. Understand variability — what does the field, trial site, the farm look like?

  3. Design the strategy — sampling plan, trial structure, or monitoring protocol

  4. Develop the protocol — a field-ready document your team can execute

  5. Analyze and improve — feedback into the next round of data collection
